It all started when…
HOPE GIVERS founder Tamlin Hall began to produce his first feature film, “Holden On”, a true story social impact narrative feature film about his childhood friend, Holden Layfield. Holden secretly began to self-medicate his undiagnosed mental illness and died by suicide at the age of 19. “Holden On” premiered in 2017 to high-acclaim for its authentic depiction of dual diagnosis. The film was invited to special screenings at the Georgia State Capitol, NAMI National Convention, National Association of Drug Court Professionals National Convention and many other screenings across North America. After the success of "Holden On", HOPE GIVERS officially formed in late 2018. The first program was the 2019 Hope Givers Music Festival that headlined Grammy nominated artists The War and Treaty, Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors, and Judah and the Lion. The inaugural Music Festival promoted wellness though music, arts, and education. In 2020, HOPE GIVERS partnered with Georgia Public Broadcasting and the Georgia Department of Education to produce a youth mental wellness series highlighting hope and resilience across America. The youth mental health series is Health Education Standards Aligned for Excellence and available to use in middle school and high school classrooms across the country. Hope Givers has won 2 Southeast Emmy® Award for Outstanding Achievement in Children/Youth/Teen Long Form Content and was nominated for a national public broadcasting Public Media Award. The 3rd season of the series will be released later in 2025. Along with the PBS Series, Hope Givers Live! was created as an live event Tier 1 SEL program in schools across Georgia. So far it has reached 20 counties and over 15,000 students.
We currently have library of content featuring 23 free Emmy award winning videos and standards aligned lesson plans, a live show for Grades 6-12 that travels across Georgia at no cost/low cost, an annual Student Film Competition for youth across America, 14 teen content advisors and 7 film/audio teacher advisors for the 2025-26 school year… and a lot of volunteers who help make Hope Givers the trusted resource for positivity, inclusivity, accessibility, and resilience.
