Josh Dempsey

Video & Film Teacher, Marietta High School

Josh Dempsey is the Video and Film Teacher at Marietta High School, where he leads one of Georgia’s most recognized student media programs. Under his direction, students have earned multiple state championships in SkillsUSA video competitions, top honors in regional film festivals, and national recognition through Hope Givers, an initiative empowering teens to share authentic stories about mental health and resilience.

Passionate about storytelling and education, Dempsey believes in the power of film to change lives—both for those who create and those who watch. He lives in Marietta with his wife, Megan, and their three children: Wyatt, Brynleigh, and Phineas.

Aisha Davis

Board Member | Hope Givers

Aisha Davis is an award-winning media educator, filmmaker, and founder of AU Listen Media and Eagle Innovators. With over a decade of experience teaching Audio-Video Technology and Film, she empowers students to tell meaningful stories that drive social change. Aisha bridges media, education, and mental wellness, using storytelling as a tool for healing, purpose, and hope. Her work with youth and educators champions creative confidence, authentic intelligence, and the power of voice in every classroom.

Barbara Mitchell is an Audio/Video Technology & Film teacher at Rockdale Career Academy in Rockdale County, Georgia. With 28 years of experience in education, she has taught a wide range of classes, workshops, and camps, always with a passion for helping students discover their potential. Through RCA Studios, she prepares students to be career-ready by providing hands-on learning experiences in media production, teamwork, and communication. Barbara believes that the most rewarding part of teaching is watching students grow into confident, capable young adults who contribute positively to their communities. She values youth voice because students bring creativity, perspective, and innovation to every project—they are not just learning from us; they are shaping the future. 

Steven McIntyre— Hall County School District

Tyson Harty is a film teacher at Jasper County High School in Monticello, GA.  His students produce short films, documentaries, promotional videos, comedic skits, and news features for their “JCHS Film” YouTube channel, including content for Hope Givers since 2022.  Formerly a science teacher, Dr. Harty has a Ph.D. in Biomechanics from Oregon State University and enjoys traveling, backpacking, mountain biking, and science fiction. On the importance of youth voices, he emphasizes the need for younger generations to be part of the decision-making on issues that directly affect our future sustainability--from climate change and biodiversity loss to artificial intelligence and sustainable peace—-and the power of audio and video to empower those perspectives.
